InchFab began out Mitchell and Parker's PhD work at MIT. During grad school they experienced firsthand that, even at top institutions, innovation at the micro- and nanoscale is severely handicapped by an expensive and aging tool infrastructure. As makers themselves, they wanted to create a more efficient and accessible way for themselves and others to create novel micro- and nanodevices. To realize this they developed the core technology that now drives InchFab – a ultra-low-cost scalable “micro-sized” fab platform. Today InchFab uses this platform to provide highly flexible and cost effective foundry services to its customers and partners.
