The vibration isolators are low-cost, passive, vacuum adaptable systems and require no air or electricity. Products include bench tops, workstations and floor platforms that provide six degrees of freedom. Our standard systems handle from 10 to 4000 lbs. And guarantee 1/2 Hz natural frequencies making them effective against low-frequency building vibrations.
Minus K’s vibration isolators are typically 10 to 100 times better than air tables and even better than the higher-priced active systems. The Minus K® products, formerly sold under the trade name Nano-K®, represent an important enabling technology. By reducing building and floor vibrations to unprecedented levels these systems enable vibration sensitive instruments and equipment to perform at unprecedented levels. They are used in a broad spectrum of applications including nanotechnology, biological sciences, semiconductors, materials research, zero-g simulation of spacecraft, and high-end audio.
Minus K manufactured six custom 10,000 lb. Negative-Stiffness vibration isolators for the ground testing of the new James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) at the Johnson Space Center (JSC). These isolators suspended the new space telescope and the testing hardware within the Johnson Space Flight Center (JSC) 120 feet tall Chamber A for the end-to-end system ground testing of the JWST. Some of Minus K’s space related customers include: JPL, NASA, European Space Agency (ESA/ESTEC), German Space Agency (DLR), Northrup Grumman, Aerospace Corp and Raytheon.
Minus K is an OEM supplier to leading manufactures of scanning probe microscopes, micro-hardness testers and other vibration-sensitive instruments and equipment, their customers include private companies and more than 300 leading universities and government laboratories in 51 countries.
