Micromac
Every material surface has an individual structure comparable to the human finger print. Based on this fact, 3D-Micromac AG has developed a new process for the application and evaluation of irreproducible natural and artificial material surface features.
Picture data are acquired from the product surface by means of a special camera system and correlated with an algorithm. Afterwards, the data are coded numerically and applied to the work piece as data matrix code by laser. This way, authenticity features as well as verification information are inseparably connected with the product and can be used for a later product authentication.
For verification purposes a correlation of the surface is conducted once again and the result is subsequently compared with the code on the work piece. Originality is proven when the patterns of both match. Otherwise, a counterfeit exists.
The process of surface correlation makes it possible to improve the protection of products against forgery significantly. Using lasers for marking, abrasion-proof and biocompatible markings on almost all common materials are realizable with minimal sizes in the area of few micrometers to some millimeters.
