Once again, Sodick is launching a range of new technology to the European market at EMO, with two new, 30% faster, high-precision, compact wire machines - the SL400Q and its bigger brother the SL600G, and a new entry level die sinker - the AD35L, which is being which is being exhibited for the first time anywhere in the world.
Sodick Smart Entry SL400Q and SL600G Premium Wire EDMs
The two new wire machines incorporate the latest technology developed in-house by Sodick, including, of course, the most advanced versions of the linear motor drives which have been at the heart of Sodick EDMs since 1998. During this time the company has manufactured and installed some quarter of a million linear motors around the world. The benefits of these drives, particularly their unparalleled acceleration, positioning accuracy and stability, have enabled Sodick to develop EDMs of the highest precision and reliability – as proven by the company’s unbeatable 10-year positioning accuracy warranty.
Sodick’s unique Smart Pulse and Smart Linear technologies are the basis for the remarkable increase in machining speed in the SL range. These advances include the “Digital PIKA circuit” - which increases finishing speed through the use of ultra-high frequency digital pulse processes. In addition, the “SPW power”, NC device, with its dual core processor, provides high speed, high-precision machining and the highest quality surface processing, while the Smart Pulse generator reduces the number of cuts necessary to achieve the desired accuracy and surface finish, achieving both time and cost savings.
As an additional benefit, the new machines are operated via an innovative, multi-touch, 19” LCD screen on a large arc swivel bracket to provide optimal positioning. The “smartphone-like” user interface is easy to use and offers single touch access to the full range of functions.
Sodick AD35L Die sink EDM
With a world-debut at EMO 2013, Sodick’s latest entry-level die-sinker - the AD35L, provides a complete, turnkey, machining solution. The machine comes equipped as standard with high-tech features including: linear motor drives, an SGF Nano-Wear discharge unit, C axis - for high precision indexing with direct-drive and continuous rotation, Shuttle ATC - for unmanned operation, external USB and dielectric chiller, an extra-large work tank and touch screen controls.
The all-new design of the AD35L delivers increased structural rigidity with improved performance at high speed, providing a longer stroke on a smaller footprint machine with high-accuracy capability, while the enlarged work tank allows the machining of workpieces up to 975 x 555 x 350mm
Sodick TT1 400A High Speed Machining Centre
Seen in Europe for the first time at EMO 2013, Sodick is showing its revolutionary, high-speed electrode machining centre. Designed and built in Japan, the TT1 400A is the ideal solution for the high-precision milling of graphite and copper electrodes. The machine is based on the advanced core technologies previously incorporated in the successful HS Series, with which it shares the same ultra-precise motion control and linear motor drive platform, to achieve maximum speed and acceleration.
Further Sodick Technology at EMO
In addition to the new wire and die sink EDMs, Sodick is also demonstrating further examples of its extensive range of manufacturing technology, including:
The AG60L, Sodick’s flag-ship, high-speed, die sink machine, which is being shown with the innovative 12-position ATC, which allows multi-electrode operations to be undertaken while the machine is unattended.
The AP250L, the most successful oil-bathed wire-cut EDM, which is ideal for micro-machining applications. The model being demonstrated features the oil dielectric, which, incorporating Sodick’s “ECO Cut O” technology, produces the surface finish of an oil dielectric machine with the speed of a water dielectric machine.
The K3HN Sodick’s hole driller can double small-hole drilling speed and, due to the incorporation of Sodick’s KSMC Motion Controller, also offers optimum micro-step servo control.
Sodick EDM Consumables a selection of which will be on display at EMO, including the newly announced Hayabusa wire, which has been developed to match and enhance the high-accuracy capabilities of Sodick’s high-end wire EDM machines.
The GA100 Sodick’s “Global Spec” injection press, which is available in clamping force sizes of 50, 100 and 150 tons, and which, due to its V-line, in-line plunger system can reduce mould deposits by up to 40% compared with conventional injection presses.
