Micromech's Managing Director, Mark Hall: "The HEIDENHAIN range is renowned for quality and cost-effectiveness."The use of a HEIDENHAIN linear encoder in a rally car simulator is helping provide a major motor sports manufacturer with precise feedback of axis positioning and, therefore, car performance.
Supplied by motion control specialist, Micromech – which has recently been appointed as an encoder distributor by HEIDENHAIN (GB), the world-leading supplier of angular, linear and rotary encoders, digital readouts and CNC systems – the simulator features the LIC 401 exposed linear encoder for absolute position measurement over large paths of traverse (up to 27 m) and at high traversing speeds.
The LIC encoder is just one of a comprehensive range of HEIDENHAIN absolute and incremental linear and rotary encoders that embrace all types of measurement applications. The encoder was chosen by Micromech, a company with an extensive customer base across many industry sectors, “because it is a high-end product that sits perfectly with our reputation as a high-tech specialist”, says Managing Director Mark Hall.
“The HEIDENHAIN range is renowned for quality and cost-effectiveness, and the LIC 401 is just one example of an extensive product range that boasts these attributes.”
With 23 employees, Micromech’s continued success has been built on its ability to provide technically-appropriate motion control solutions that extend from component supply through to kits of parts as well as full-blown system solutions embracing system integration and software support.
The technically-led company has enjoyed much success over the years with OEMs as it has with research organisations and, according to Mr Hall, “our distributor agreement with HEIDENHAIN will undoubtedly reinforce our position as we continue to work with a burgeoning number of organisations that require a highly-experienced and versatile motion control partner and solution provider”.
