Walter Ewag UK – a member of the United Grinding Group – has extended the length of tools to 420 mm that can be processed with its market-leading Helitronic range of tool grinders with the launch of the Walter Helitronic Vision 400 L.
This compares to the circumferential machining length of 370 mm previously possible.
In addition, a range of options also allow the Helitronic Vision 400 L to be configured to suit a wide range of customer demands and budgets.
Designed for grinding rotationally symmetrical tools such as cutters, hob cutters, drills, step drills, profile tools and woodworking tools of HSS, ceramic, cermet and CBN and of 3 mm to 315 mm diameter, the new generation machine is characterised by a number of features that have been globally tried-and-proven by its stablemate, the Helitronic Vision.
These include linear drives for the linear (X, Y Z) axes, high torque motors for the rotational (A, C) axes, mineral cast machine base, and a patented gantry design for extreme rigidity and virtually vibration-free grinding precision.
However, the Helitronic Vision 400 L can additionally feature an optional inexpensive belt drive spindle for the automated changing of grinding wheel sets. In conjunction with options for either double- or motor-spindle variants, the belt drive facility now also permits a variety of configurations to ideally suit customer needs and budgets.
Other options include alternative wheel changers to suit the application, a compact unit for up to eight grinding wheel sets or a more expansive unit capable of changing up to 24 grinding wheel sets of wheels up to 254 mm diameter, a six-axis Fanuc robot for toolchanging and an automated work table.
The machine’s Fanuc CNC features Walter’s Helitronic Tool Studio software which includes dynamic 3D simulation and user-friendly operation.
