Precision Engineered Products, a global manufacturer of surgical and medical instruments, devices, and components, is increasing its global manufacturing base with a new facility in the Caribbean.
The 5,000 square foot, Class 8 medical manufacturing operation is located in the Zona Franca Industrial in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic.
Production of surgical staples began this month. Plans to expand site manufacturing to include complementary molding, stamping and assembly capabilities are in progress.
Said president and CEO Alan Huffenus of the initiative, “The new Precision Engineered Products medical manufacturing facility in the Dominican Republic better positions PEP to deliver highest quality surgical and medical devices and components to our customers at the best possible value.”
Continued Mr. Huffenus, “This strategic investment increases PEP’s manufacturing agility, and ultimately improves support of our customers’ operations worldwide.”
Precision Engineered Products has ten manufacturing locations in four countries. The Dominican Republic facility is the second PEP operation devoted principally to medical manufacturing. PEP’s Bridgeport, Connecticut location is home to medical and surgical business units Lacey Manufacturing and Boston Endo-Surgical Technologies.
