Once again Kern Microtechnik meets the expectations of being a leader in technology for high precision manufacturing at AMB 2024 Stuttgart 10 -14 September. Because there – in hall 7 at booth B71 – the new fully hydrostatic five axes machining center Kern Micro HD+ will be introduced. Furthermore, visitors will experience the latest laser machining center Kern Femto E3 and an automated Kern Micro HD in action.
Knowing the Kern Micro HD and being aware of how precise and fast this high-end machining center is working makes it hard to imagine what could possibly be improved. Nevertheless, the developers at Kern Microtechnik GmbH, Eschenlohe, succeeded in bringing the machining center up to a new level so that the plus in its name is more than justified.
With some changes the machining center now improves its stiffness, concentricity as well as thermal stability and dynamics. The main reason for this are several trailblazing innovations. The next technological step in the Kern Micro HD+: The patented Kern micro-gap technology can no longer‚ only‘be found in the linear axes but now also in the rotational axes. This results in highest stability and reliability in all the different combinations of possible machining processes. Also, there is no wear on any axis and an extraordinary accuracy in concentricity. Kern Microtechnik’s experts are looking forward to sharing more information about this at booth B71 in hall 7.
Another highlight on the booth is the automated Kern Micro HD. The precision machining center is machining a copper part for a particle accelerator with milling and grinding in one clamping. Visitors will be surprised by seeing a part with an accuracy of at least 1 µm and sequential mirror finishing.
Another exciting project is the manufacturing of carbide press punches. Parts like these are a specialty of the laser machining center Kern Femto E3. Inside the machine an ultrashort pulse laser works on hard materials without transferring heat into the part and together with Kern’s „Adaptive Machining“ technology highest form accuracies are being achieved. Another advantage: Since no tools are needed there is no cost for tooling.
Besides the parts being machined on site during the show, many more are on display. With ceramics becoming more popular in the machining industry Kern Microtechnik’s art of manufacturing is striking. With the ductile cutting mode, which has been developed by Kern Micotechnik, manufacturing ceramics is as reliable and fast as never before and many appealing ceramic parts are on display.
