Laser production in medical technology: the picture shows an example of stent production with Aerotech lasers (source Aerotech)
Aerotech will be showcasing innovative motion control solutions and positioning systems at MedTec Ireland in Galway from 25-26 September. Trade visitors to stand R1 will be able to find out how an extended field of view of a galvanometer based system affects the cycle rates of high-precision laser processes. The new LaserTurn 160 platform and the latest release of the Automation1 motion control platform will be on show as demo systems.
"MedTec Ireland is an excellent platform for us to present our latest developments for the medical industry to a broad international audience of specialists," says Simon Smith, European Director at Aerotech. Aerotech has been supporting medical technology customers with high-precision, high throughput industry-specific automation processes for more than 50 years. The ever-growing capabilities include laser welding and cutting solutions as well as matched motion systems and components that can increase throughput by a factor of two to five.
LaserTurn 160 - powerful platform for linear and rotary movements
At the trade fair, the experts will then present the brand new LaserTurn 160 motion and material handling subsystem, which heralds the start of the second generation of the LaserTurn product series. The improved version of the LT1 will continue to be available with the CCS130 configuration, so that existing users can configure the system in their familiar environment. A simplified cable management system (CMS) is now available as an option. In addition, the LaserTurn 160 offers an optional ASR1300 rotation upgrade for higher throughput and also offers the ability to process tubes with a diameter of up to 4 mm.
The new platform also allows parts to be shared with the ANT130L and features additive components such as a cost-effective alignment gripper. According to Aerotech, medical technology users achieve improved overall quality and efficiency in the production of their parts and thus benefit from an optimised cost structure.
Automation1 for all applications and systems
Trade visitors can also see for themselves the latest release of the Aerotech Automation1 control platform, which also handles workpiece positioning and laser control. Above all, the functional enhancements will be presented, for example, the machine setup, data visualisation and the Homing help module have been significantly improved once again. Thanks to the API support of Python API, all Python help files of the control system are now also available. Last but not least, the new cost-effective XA4 PWM drives from Aerotech can now also be integrated.
