David Tolfree VP and Executive Director of the Micro, Nano and Emerging Technology Commercialization and Education Foundation (MANCEF) has announced that, after thirty years of completing its mission to accelerate the commercialisation of micro-nanoproducts and emergent technologies to companies, universities and government agencies, the Executive Board unanimously voted on 20 April 2024 at a special meeting in Vienna to close its operations. A record of its work organising and operating international conferences, workshops and interactive networks over three decades supported by thousands of participants will be published in a book.
Tolfree stated "It was advances in the miniaturisation of products led by micro-nanotechnologies that created new digitally based industries in almost every sector. Computers, mobile phones, large screen flat TVs, digital cameras, inkjet printers etc. that most of us possess are just some examples of such products. These technologies have produced exciting new diagnostics in medicine that are advancing the treatment of disease. No doubt we will be amazed at what will arrive in the future.
He went on to add "It was a privilege to have been the Vice President of MANCEF during its period of operation, which enabled me to meet and work with many leading international experts in the field of miniaturisation technologies who will be acknowledged in the book. On behalf of MANCEF, I thank all those who supported us over the years. Your contribution to our mission was of great value in advancing knowledge for the benefit of the global society."
