How the Tera 250 achieves the accuracy and repeatability required for exacting micro manufacturing applications has until the release of this video been somewhat of a mystery.
The key to the success of the Nanofabrica technology is that it brings the benefits of AM to micro manufacturers for the first time, including hitherto impossible part complexity (enhancing design and functionality), no tooling costs, minimal set up costs, and the ability to mass customise and personalise products. As a versatile technology the Tera 250 is now stimulating innovation across the micro manufacturing sector.
Avi Cohen, Executive Vice President at Nanofabrica, explains “Boasting single micron resolution, Nanofabrica’s technology is targeted squarely at the optics, semi-conductor, micro-electronics, MEMS, microfluidics, and healthcare sectors. These sectors exhibit high-level demand for accuracy and complexity, and until now the only route to market has been through disproportionately expensive or restrictive traditional manufacturing technologies.”
While the Tera 250 can cater for high volume applications (multiple thousands of small parts and components fitting easily in the machine’s build envelope), the introduction of a 3D printing solution for micro manufacturers also means that OEMs are able to reduce the reliance on economies of scale, as the technology makes full production runs measured in thousands as inexpensive as producing one.
